Off to the Olympics!
Dear Waldorf Community,
From ancient Greece and Rome to the modern age, Waldorf education invites students to step into history and “travel” through civilizations in order to better understand themselves and humanity.
Downstairs in our Art Studio, a Greek ship and Cyclops prop set the stage for the Grade 5/6 production of Odysseus, which is coming along beautifully.
Out in the yard, rose petals cover the ground as the whole school gathered to cheer on the Grade 5 class as they embarked on their Olympic Games. These are deeply immersive experiences.
Imagine how much we learn in the span of ten years. The journey from JK to Grade 8 is as long as the ten years Odysseus spent trying to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War — delayed by wrathful gods, sea monsters, and even imprisonment by Calypso on the island of Ogygia.
Our students’ learning journeys, while filled with challenges of their own, are also rich with wonder, friendship, and discovery. Along the way, students learn perseverance, develop their skills, and grow in confidence, discovering that together we can each find our place in the world.
Kind regards,
Conor

Councillor Matlow visits Mayfair
Did you know that over 1.5 million pounds of fresh fruit grows in Toronto?
Our friends at Not Far From The Tree will be pleased to hear about the new addition in the sideyard! Parent Jesse M. dropped by last weekend to plant a Bing Cherry tree in the playground. While tending the garden, he also did a great deal of pruning. As the saying goes: “The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time to plant a tree is now.” Thanks Jesse! Of course the tree already has a name: “Bingo”
