DIRECTOR’S NOTE
Dear Waldorf Academy Community,
As the school settles into a rhythm (and smells of Kindergarten’s famous Stone Soup emanate from Ms. Ciepielewski’s class) Waldorf Academy’s Grades 4, 5 & 6, enjoyed some time outdoors at Camp Wenonah.
When we say we are a nature school in the city, we mean it! And nothing gells teams better than time out in nature testing our skills and tackling challenges together. From archery to rock climbing to canoeing, your children got to learn about themselves and each other (and equally important, learn to work together).
I’d also like to thank all who participated in this week’s Community Council. We are all so grateful for your commitment to learning and to this school.
All these elements combined set the stage for a delightful year ahead!

Get your day started off on the right foot!
At Waldorf Academy, we hold the morning as a precious time of gathering. Starting the day together, on time, and prepared allows children to settle into the morning rhythm, strengthens the class community, and ensures that no child begins the day at a disadvantage.
For Grades 1–3, it is especially beneficial to arrive a little early and drop children off in the side yard, where they can run, play, and connect with friends before lessons begin.
We understand that traffic and family schedules can present challenges. Still, consistent lateness affects both social and academic learning, as well as the flow of the classroom. For this reason, we ask every family to support us in arriving on time. Students are considered late if they arrive after 8:30 a.m.
This policy is meant to be supportive and proactive, helping to create a smooth start for every child. It applies to Grades 1–8.
Late Policy:
If a student is late five times in a month, the Pedagogical Lead will contact the parents.
If a student is late ten times in a month, the parents and student will meet with the Pedagogical Lead and the main lesson teacher to create a plan for improvement.
Each month begins as a fresh start.
Parents are asked to drop off their children in the school lobby, where the children will then go upstairs to their classrooms independently.
Together, with your support, we can give all students the gift of a calm and timely beginning to their school day.
