Windows into Waldorf Oct 25, 2024
DIRECTOR’s NOTE
When something unexpected but delightful happened my Mother would often say, quite simply, good angels. This week I was reminded of this many times as the good angels of Waldorf Academy have been busy.
Treats for the Early Childhood Educators (good angels)
Contractors working night shifts so as to not to interfere with the childcare naps (good angels)
Finance committee volunteers meeting for hours (good angels)
Parents serving hot lunch (good angels)
Volunteers helping carve pumpkins (good angels)
Board organizing “30 in 30” fundraising effort (good angels)
Volunteers taking students on trips (good angels)
There have been so many good angels, doing so many good things, all moving the community forward — I am grateful.
Conor

PUMPKIN CARVING
Grade 1 students joined their Grade 7/8 buddies to carve pumpkins today! Thank you to our wonderful Grade 1 parent reps and volunteers who brought in the pumpkins, and gave us a beautiful way for our students to connect and foster relationship. Waldorf grads remember their buddies forever!
WALDORF GRADS in the NEWS!
Sarah Gillis, graduate of Shining Mountain Waldorf School in Boulder, Colorado, recently walked in space on the Polaris Dawn mission. Not only is Gillis a Lead Space Operations Engineer, she is also an accomplished musician. While in orbit, she played the Star Wars theme - and is believed to be the first person to play the violin in space.
Our own Grade 6 class is completing their venture into space through their continuing Astronomy Main Lesson. Who else might we see travelling through the galaxies in a few short years, quite possibly with a ukulele and an original song. Shoot for the stars!
THREE CHEERS for our AMAZING CHILDCARE STAFF!
Parents and members of our Community Council celebrated our amazing Childcare Centre staff this week. Our Childcare is highly sought-after and has a long wait list. This is in large part due to the wonderful team of Early Childhood Educators who dedicate their energy and time to our youngest Waldorf Academy students, and thanks to our intrepid Childcare Supervisor, Lucia Amaral, who ensures that Waldorf principles are always living and growing in our many Childcare gardens. Thank you, Waldorf Academy Childcare, for your expertise and commitment! Reciprocally, on behalf of the Childcare staff, a heartfelt thank-you for the kindness and generosity shown by the parents and Community Council!
WE WISH YOU A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!
