The first grade is an exciting time at our school, as children transition from the familiarity
of kindergarten into a more formal learning environment. While this can bring on first grade jitters, your first grade child has a sense of wonder and imagination perfectly suited to this new challenge. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to reward this curiosity, laying the foundation for lifetime learning.

Meet the grade one teacher, Ms. Tammi Gerrard and sample a math lesson with your child.
Tammi started her Waldorf teaching career teaching kindergarten twenty years ago. After completing the Waldorf teaching program at the Rudolf Steiner Centre in Toronto she taught handwork at the Halton Waldorf School. In 2001, she became a class teacher and has taken a class from one through eight twice and takes an enthusiastic and creative approach to her teaching.
She graduated from Fleming College’s School of Environmental and Natural Resources Sciences as a Forestry Technician. Upon graduation, she embarked on fighting forest fires in Northern Ontario and in subsequent years focused on raising her three girls Erin, Shelley and Meghan.
Her love of teaching was first fostered when she worked at the Outdoor Education centre with the Waterloo Board of Education. Her passion for the outdoors continues to this day and when she is not in school she is often travelling across Canada to visit her daughters.
