Chinese New Year- Celebrating February 18

Welcome Chinese New year 2015! It is the Year of 羊 (Goat, Sheep, or Ram).
If you were born Feb 1,2003 – January 21,2004 or February15,1991 to January 3,1992 or January 28,1979 to February 15, 1980, you were born in the year of 羊.

Waldorf Academy is going to celebrate Chinese New Year on Wednesday, February 18 which is the last day of 2014 in Lunar calendar. Different parts of China and Taiwan have different traditions. In general, a few days before the Chinese New Year, people will do a complete cleaning of the house and house wares which signifies to remove the old and welcome the new. After the cleaning, people will decorate the house to welcome the New Year. Most of the decorations are red in colour.

All parents will prepare new clothes and shoes for the family members and go shopping in New Year Markets. The New Year’s Eve dinner is the most important dinner for the Chinese. This is the family reunion dinner. During the dinner, some specific dishes, deserts, and fruits will be served to bring good luck and prosperity to the family. 恭禧發財,萬事如意 !Wishing you prosperity and wealth and may all your wishes come true!
