Spring is a transformative time of year and we have much to celebrate at Waldorf Academy. Earth Day was celebrated with a walk to the ravine where the students and faculty gathered in a sacred circle around a mandela. Each grade was represented by the colour of their rock. There was singing and recording playing. A baby snake was spotted and the smell of the Earth was strong and rich after the evening’s downpour.
After the ceremony the students armed with gloves and garbage bags spread across the ravine and collected the rubbish.
Back at the school Grades 1 to 3 were given a demonstration on bike helmut safety and how to maintain their bikes. Minweiwei rehearsed their ancient Greek play on Perseus while the Middle School prepared for the Music & Art Celebration.
Today the Stargarden Kindergarten ventured out to Riverdale Farm.
We honour the many sacred religious holidays that are occurring this time of year.
