Our play-based, experiential programs develop capacities for creative thinking and problem solving through exploratory play and guided activities. Our aesthetically rich classrooms are furnished with simple, natural materials and handcrafted toys that allow the children to build imaginative scenarios and maximize their creative capacities. Children participate in outdoor play and seasonal crafts that support self-regulation, physical development, and healthy social interaction, laying a strong foundation for later academic success. Emphasis is placed on the development of requisite skills and capacities that promote readiness for first grade.
Kindergarten at Waldorf Academy is a 5-day program with the option of half (8:30-12:00), full (8:30-3:30) or extended days. All programs include a hearty morning snack that they prepare. The extended day program runs from 8:00am-6:00pm and includes a healthy afternoon snack. To qualify for JK or SK, children must turn 4 or 5 by December 31st. Children born October – December may have the opportunity to do an additional year in Kindergarten at your discretion in consultation with the teacher.
New to Waldorf? Many people may have heard of Waldorf but don’t really know what it’s about. Making a decision to place your child in any educational environment is vitally important, so we want to give parents an opportunity to see for themselves how a Waldorf school works. Bring your child and join us for a Kindermorning at Waldorf Academy. You will witness first-hand our Kindergarten Program in action and talk with other parents who have experience with Waldorf. These opportunities are open to all families who want to learn more about us.
