Clara Hilts was introduced to Waldorf Academy shortly after moving to Toronto in 2012. Taking on the role of music specialist, she quickly became immersed in the life of the school through the festivals committee, building a musical relationship with class teachers and teaching children grades 1 through 8. Clara is a composer by trade, finishing her Hons. BMus degree at Wilfrid Laurier under the instruction of Glenn Buhr and studying choral techniques and conducting with Lee Willingham. While at school, she held the position of vocal director for Laurier Musical Theatre and sang and competed with the school’s chamber choir Laurier Singers. Before joining Waldorf Academy, Clara was the choir director for the Peterborough community choir “For the Love of Singing”, a musical theatre instructor at the Peterborough Academy of Performing Arts, a music camp director at Conrad Grebel College in Waterloo and commissioned composer and performer. Presently, when time allows, she can also be found performing in downtown Toronto. Clara is happy to work with such imaginative and warm colleagues and loves teaching children in such a nourishing and supportive environment.
