It is a time for celebrating deeds of strength and courage, for facing dragons, external and internal. Honour our history and celebrate our future at the Renaming Ceremony September 22nd, 4:00pm

This is a photo of the students and teachers in 1987 at the Merton School location. Founding parents Rita Martin, Shelagh Martin-Moon, Renate Kurth-Sutherlan,  put up interest free loans, gifts etc. to start the school. The First teachers were Barbara Sparling, Diana Miklos, Carmen Arvizu. And of course Diana Miklos is currently teaching in the Rainbow Nursery.

Music Festival, Earth Day and May Events

The students at AHWS celebrated Earth Day in a variety of ways. The morning began with a ceremony in the ravine to honour the earth. The children had painted the rocks and each grade is represented by a colour. Daily experiences with the outdoors and with natural materials develop a personal bond with nature and cultivates a respect for the environment.

Earth Day Celebrations, Commonwealth Games and Music Night

The students of AHWS sang O’Canada loud and strong in French and English and cheered for the athletes and Mayor Miller at the Torch Relay Ceremony marking Canada’s participation in this year’s Commonwealth Games.

GRADE EIGHT PROJECTS- a ‘coming-of-age-ceremony.’

The Grade Eight year at AHWS is highlighted by a series of very special initiations in which the students are challenged to step up to a specific task with both courage and creativity. These challenges include the Grade Eight Trip, the Grade Eight Play and most recently, the Grade Eight Projects.

KNIT-A-THON FOR HAITI, BLANKET RAFFLE UPDATE.

New total on funds raised: $6,500.00
The blanket is on display in the foyer. It measures 40 x 48. Raffle tickets are $10.00. The draw will take place on Earth Day April 22nd.
The Knit-a thon for Haiti was a beautiful success. Students and faculty from Grade One to Eight gathered in the gymnasium and knitted red and blue squares for one hour.
