Fees

Waldorf Academy fees continue to be very competitive compared with those of other independent schools. Grade School Tuition Fees of $15,450 cover most academic expenses, and we offer a Family Discount with savings for each additional sibling up to four children.  Additional “Activity Fees” cover expenses outside of tuition, such as museum entrance fees.

New for the 2012-13 year: a third tuition option, $16,500, for Junior and Senior Kindergarten is being offered which includes before and after care as well as catering.  Please contact admissions@waldorfacademy.org for more details.

For new applicants to the school there is a one-time Enrollment Fee of $3,000, in addition to Tuition Fees, $500 of which is applicable starting in Junior Kindergarten, with the next installment of $500 in Senior Kindergarten and the balance in Grade One.  If the child enrolls starting in Senior Kindergarten, $1000 is applicable with the balance due in Grade One.

Note that this plan begins in the month of June prior to the start of school in September.  For families enrolling after June and choosing this payment plan, installment payments will need to made to bring the account’s standing to current as if the installments had begun in June.

Application Fee
Each application must be submitted with a $100 application fee. This fee is non-refundable and is not an indication your child is accepted.

Deposit
For all programs except our Child Care programs, a $600 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of acceptance.

Sibling Discounts
Family discounts are offered on the following basis: 20% for the second child, 50% for the third child, and 75% for the fourth child. Discounts do not apply to the Parent & Child or Child Care programs.

New Family Enrollment Fee
New families to the school are required to pay a $3000 non-refundable registration fee. This is a one-time fee, is in addition to tuition, and is due at the time of acceptance. The fee is not applicable to our Parent Education Classes, Child Care, Playschool or Nursery Programs. The fee is applicable starting in Kindergarten and new families in Kindergarten are eligible to pay a reduced enrollment fee of $1,000 for the Kindergarten years, to be used as a partial payment toward the full enrollment fee.

Activity Fees
In the Grade School, the cost of class outings, trips and school supplies are additional to tuition fees, and are generally covered by a school activity fee. For the upcoming year the fee is $100 starting in Grade One, and increasing to a maximum of $800 in Grade Eight.

*Child Care
These programs are generally known in the market place as Daycare. Our Childcare Program runs for 50 weeks per year, with holiday closures for one week during the December winter break and one week at the end of July. The centre is also closed for all statutory holidays. The programs include hot lunches and snacks.

Fundraising
We are deeply grateful to families who support the school’s fundraising efforts. It is hoped that parents donate according to their means to greater or lesser amounts, to help support the school’s most immediate needs not covered by tuition. Donations are fully tax deductible and official receipts will be issued by the end of February.

Before and After Care Programs
After School Care is available from 3:45-6:00pm at a cost of $15 per day. Non-registered same day drop-ins are subject to child/caregiver ratios, and a space for your child is not guaranteed.  Before school care is also offered from 8:00-8:30am for a $5 fee.

Camps
Camps may be offered on days where the school is not in session and where no statutory holiday exists.  A March Break Camp may be offered for one of the two weeks of March break which differs from the public school break (typically the second week) and a Summer Camp is usually offered for Kindergarten children in the last two weeks in June. Camps are not offered for the two-week winter break. Pre-registration and payment in full are required.  Camps may be cancelled if minimum numbers are not reached.

Receipts for Income Tax Purposes Child Care
In addition to receipts for donations to the school the Office issues Child Care receipts by the end of February that can be used for income tax purposes. The amount and availability of these receipts vary by age, grade and tax year and are issued for that period of time that is supervised and non-academic.

Fees Payable for Student Withdrawal
In the event a child withdraws from the school, parents are responsible to pay for the full tuition for the full term. The school reserves the right to ask for the withdrawal of a child, in which case tuition fees will be reimbursed on a pro-rated basis.

Tuition Assistance
The school strives to include as broad an economic and social population as possible so as to ensure our School reflects the society we live in. Fee Adjustment
Fees are subject to an annual adjustment as set by the Board of Directors for the student contract (June 1 to May 31).
